John Zavodny Ph.D.- appointed President of Maine Seacoast Mission

DRG Search is pleased to announce that John Zavodny Ph.D. has been appointed President of  Maine Seacoast Mission. He will report directly to the Board and will be mainly responsible for the daily operations and overall guidance of the organization, including overseeing its many programs delivered from campuses in Bar Harbor and Cherryfield and from the Sunbeam, a 74-foot boat.

Dr. Zavodny will join Maine Seacoast Mission after leaving his role as Chief of Staff at Unity College. This School offers a unique education based on sustainability science that engages students with its rural environment. Dr. Zavodny spent 18 years at Unity College where he also served as professor of philosophy and humanities, academic chair, director of the Center for Environmental Arts and Humanities, and dean of academic services.

Maine Seacoast Mission (MSM) is a 113-year old organization serving the coast and islands of downeast Maine. MSM manages a variety of programs oriented toward education, health, and community well-being.The 74-foot ship “Sunbeam” travels to many of the outer islands off the coast of Maine delivering services to address the physical and mental health needs of island residents, including substance abuse and eldercare.
